Widewail is a Burlington, Vermont based startup focused on helping local businesses effectively get and manage online customer reviews. By integrating with our customer's business management systems we send SMS and email invitations inviting their clients to leave a review. Widewail then monitors and responds to reviews on behalf of the businesses. Responses include SEO rich text in order to attract new customers to our client's business and improve overall local search ranking. Negative review management requires collaboration with our clients to ensure that responses best reflect their voice. Our customer base is growing fast and we are looking for additional team members to help us meet our growing demand by expanding our current product offerings and bringing new products to market.

Sr. Java Developer Overview
The backend developer will be responsible for taking high-level ideas and transforming them into working software. You will have the creative flexibility to help define and design our user-facing products both in terms of the user experience and the software architecture. The position would be based either in our Burlington, VT -OR- U.S. based remote.
What you'll do
Analyze, design and develop new software and maintain and enhance existing software
Provide direction for the team and help grow our engineering practices
Develop core level frameworks and architecture
Expanding the capabilities of our existing products.
Greenfield development of new products.
Integrating with a diverse range of 3rd party APIs.
Communicate with team members on product development.
Education
6+ years professional software development experience
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Required Qualifications
Self-motivated and independent learner. We are a small team and everyone is responsible for finding and implementing the right solution at the right time
Strong business acumen with an eye to putting customers first
Experience working with RESTful APIs.
Experience working with a relational database
Working on a team on a shared codebase
Spring Framework
Proficient with Git
6+ years of Java development experience
Experience with automated test technologies (Junit, Mockito, etc)
Working in a cloud environment
Working with SQL databases
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in team and project management
AWS Lambda
Kotlin experience
Working in young, early-stage companies
Working in AWS
Compensation & Benefits
