Overview

RES is looking for a Banking Regulatory Specialist with at least 3 years of banking experience for our Mitigation Banking Hub. This position can be located at any of the major RES office locations and will support projects across the country.

Who is RES: We are the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 525 stream miles and 62,000 wetland acres, in addition to conserving and preserving 15,000 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 20,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 280 tons of polluting nutrients. RES ecological solutions enable a balance of economic development and ecological sustainability.

The mission: The Mitigation Banking Hub is a RES team dedicated to the discipline of mitigation banking, working in partnership with our regional teams across the nation to strategically grow and successfully operate our mitigation bank portfolio. I was fortunate to join this group during its inception and have enjoyed helping set its organizational structure and strategy for success. These new positions will be primarily focused on the front end of the bank development process including site selection and the initial stages of the bank approval process and will be solely focused on mitigation banking. They will support our regions where they need additional capacity to advance mitigation banks in existing markets and to expand into new markets. The goal is to continue to grow the RES mitigation banking business line.

Responsibilities

70% of the time you will be working on the development of new mitigation banks. You will be working on a small team that is solely dedicated to the development of new mitigation banks. The other team members will include a Banking Project Manager, a Banking Land Representative, a Banking Geospatial Analyst, and a Banking Project Administrator. You will report to the Director of Bank Development within the Mitigation Hub. You will be applying your knowledge of local and federal permitting processes and leveraging the knowledge of the local region to ensure RES is pursuing the best available sites for mitigation bank development. Your primary contribution is expected to include driving site selection processes and drafting early-stage bank approval documents from a regulatory perspective. Because this team will be comprised of a small number of experienced individuals, it will also function in an interdisciplinary manner where team members are encouraged to help each other in whatever capacity is needed to make sure our projects are successful.

30% of your time you will be mentoring/coaching – You will be helping to grow the level of mitigation banking experience at RES by coaching and mentoring. This could include remote and office based interactions, as well as in the field at mitigation bank sites assisting with data collection and participating in agency site visits.

We would love to speak with you if you have many of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Policy, Planning, or closely related field
