Position Purpose




Aids in supplying necessary work centers with the proper materials needed to complete the manufacturing process. These materials may include but not limited to rubber compounds, packing materials, plastic film, or other essential materials needed for production. The material handler will be required to lift materials both by hand or by assisted lifting equipment. This individual will also be responsible for following our company’s FIFO policy which will require rotation of stock and attention to labels and date expirations.


 


Education/Experience




High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.


 


Job Requirements/Skills





  • Able to read limited number of two-and-three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to work in a group setting. Ability to follow and understand simple instructions.

  • Able to add and subtract and do simple division and multiplication.  Calculators are available.


  • Reasoning Ability: Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Education/Experience





  • High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

  • Able and experience with forklift driving




Essential Functions





  • Performs all filing and pulling of required paperwork (forms) in accordance with established procedures.

  • Conducts inventory transactions within (Infor) LN (manufacturing software).

  • Distributes materials delivered to Production building to the correct production location (depending on machine and task) to support “just in time” operations.

  • Moves materials to and from storage locations based on established inventory levels.

  • Conducts cycle counts and performs inventory investigations.

  • Performs forklift checklist daily to assure the forklift is and will operate properly.

  • Responsible for accurate preparation and handling of production orders and miscellaneous orders.

  • Assists Receiving Department as time permits.

  • Loads and unloads new and/or broken pallets.

  • Operates forklift.

  • Ability to use computer keyboard and calculator.

  • Responsible for quality work and good housekeeping of equipment and area, including tasks like removing cardboard from press machines to put into trash/recycling bins, and haul used product (clicker) boards from finishing Dept to the trash.

  • Maintains safe working practices and wears personal protective equipment as required.

  • Develop and Maintain Default Stock Location Control.

  • Ensure Available On-Hand Location Quantities.

  • Keep materials to machines and move once prepared; Set up materials to mill and move finished skids to proper place; wrap up finished skids, collect order books and make sure depts. are stocked as needed. Rotate materials to use oldest dated first, put away supplies in proper place

  • Attention to Detail is a must.

  • Ensure all SKU’s have UPC labels.


  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor which may vary according to Material Handler job location within the company facilities.

 


Supervision Received: 




  • Daily by Supervisor. May work independently and is expected to anticipate needs.



Physical Requirements





  • Frequently exerting or lifting up to 55 lbs. daily.  Frequently pushing, pulling and or lifting are required.  Occasionally climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, using legs, arms, hands and feet.  Emphasizing agility of body.

  • Moderate noise level

  • Work Environment: Safety shoes and safety glasses are required.

  • Generally responsible for the safety and cleanliness own work area. 


 


Licenses/Certifications:




  • Forklift Certification required.  HAZ-MAT training required.
