Job Description Summary

Responsible for originating mortgage loan applications received through the Credit Union’s online pipeline. Responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other business channels. Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information. Promotes RFCU mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assesses member’s needs and concerns; provides consultative services to members regarding mortgage products and services.

  • Originates mortgage applications. Sets customer expectations and educates them on the entire mortgage origination process.

  • Works with mortgage processors to keep the member and all related parties advised of the status of the application. Coordinates with closing area to facilitate a prompt and accurate loan closing.

  • Identifies opportunities to increase loan origination volume in order to achieve defined loan growth objectives.

  • Assists with inbound and outbound mortgage call inquiries. Participates in seminars/webinars and events to educate members and build with real estate community.

  • Ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies.

  • Handles member complaints through phone calls, correspondence and follow-up; utilizes knowledge of Credit Union products and services to provide solutions to members concerns and problems; follows through to ensure member satisfaction.

  • Interacts with other departments and vendors to research and resolve problems and provide requested information.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job satisfactorily, an employee must be able to carry out each essential duty competently. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and abilities required.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education Requirements

High School or GED - Required

Must be able to obtain National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration and/or meet Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) guidelines for position.

Experience Requirement

2 Years - Experience with Conventional, Portfolio, and Government loan products. - Required

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Learn and apply information, on a wide range of Credit Union products, services and regulatory compliance requirements, in order to assess member situations and develop solutions.

  • Use logic, reasoning and mathematical skills to solve practical problems and make sound decisions.

  • Communicate in a professional manner and deliver information clearly and effectively. Actively listen to questions, opinions and ideas of others. Use tact and diplomacy in sensitive and confidential situations.

  • Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures

  • Knowledge of mortgage loan regulatory requirements, residential products and functions also required

  • Ability to work independently with good project management skills and ability to adjust to ever changing environment

  • Effectively apply internal and external customer service practices and processes to meet quality service standards and achieve member satisfaction.

  • Use correct English including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  • Operate computers and use business software and other standard office equipment.

  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Set priorities and manage one’s own time effectively.
