Hiring Range: $23.29 - $27.37

Chesterfield County Government is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform multiple laboratory tests in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures to meet wastewater treatment plant operational needs and Federal and State Regulations; i.e., pH, settle ability, suspended solids, total solids, volatile acids, alkalinity, nitrate, ammonia, E. coli, fecal coliform, etc. Cleaning of laboratory glassware and cleaning/minor maintenance of laboratory equipment. Recording/ reporting laboratory results on bench sheets and entering data into database. Perform other work as required.  This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience. 

Successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or a related field and one year of experience in a laboratory environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Candidates may be considered without a science degree if they have background in appropriate scientific fields (for example, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, life/medical/physical sciences). Relevant practical laboratory work experience will also be evaluated. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. Must be available for occasional holiday work and be flexible to occasional schedule changes to fill in for other staff on Fridays.  This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.  Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
