Purpose


Supports manufacturing processes by creating and releasing all drawings/prints needed by DIW in a manner that meets or exceeds the safety, quality, delivery, and costs expectations for each Job. Works with customer business units on standardization and continuous improvement projects.


Main Responsibilities

  • Using the purchase packages supplied by customer business units, extract all components to be manufactured and create the necessary drawings and machine code for each operation. File drawings in the appropriate digital file for access by the production team.
  • Working with design engineering, identify customer specific tolerances and/or attribute requirements that may or may not be clearly identified in the purchase package.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance during in-process and final inspections of all manufactured products before shipping.

Specific Duties

  • Interacts with engineering, purchasing, quality, internal customers, and manufacturing as required.
  • Verify manufacturing is always working from the latest revision level of all drawings.
  • Works for standardization (building block concept) on each area of his general job responsibilities.
  • Works with the onsite Engineering Programmer for best utilization of equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for training other employees as needed.
  • Follows Engineering standards and design criteria.
  • Continually look for (and take advantage of) opportunities to reduce costs and/or eliminate waste without adversely impacting safety, quality, or delivery performance.

Education and Work Experience

  • BA or BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Experience creating and properly marking up manufacturing drawings from solid models.
  • Prefer 3 or more years' experience as a mechanical or manufacturing engineer in a large-scale metal fabrication facility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient use of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software.
  • Highly experienced drawing and marking up 2D and Isometric drawings.
  • Familiar with various cutting, forming, welding, and finishing large-scale metal fabrications.
  • Strong organization, time management and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with people.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel to other facilities. Annual travel less than 10%
