Position: Surveyor Party Chief
Travel: primarily in Newark, DE. Some regional travel possible in PA/MD.
We are currently seeking a Surveyor Party Chief whose a team player, motivated to work hard, and develop in our Heavy Civil team. There will be a focus on bridge structures and roadway (land). Experience in heavy civil construction needed, as well as understanding of lay outs of structures, calculations for geometry and quantities (i.e., bridge or other structures). This candidate will aid in project management and completion. They will provide assistance to Superintendent and/or lead team on our Delaware project as well as support field crews and supervision. Familiar in using total station and GPS equipment. Capable of working independently. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.
This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Qualifications:
Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Civil Engineering or Survey Technology.
Minimum of five (3) years of Heavy/Highway experience , including laying outs of structures and roadway.
Familiar with drawings, stake-outs, drainage, bridge structures, retaining walls.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to read and organize drawings and keep revisions updated.
Coordinate survey operations to support all field operations
Plan and perform necessary stake-out work for each operation of construction on the project.
Must schedule layout work so that no crew is waiting on a stake-out.
Determine degree of accuracy of stake-out in conjunction with requirements of the operation (i.e., piling vs. beam layout) and capabilities of the crew leader, group leader, or foreman performing the operation.
Maintain updated as-built information after structural construction completions
Records all stake-out work in project field books for future reference.
Must operate the various instruments (i.e., transept, level, distance meter, and the autolight) in performance of stake-out duties.
Maintain and troubleshoot GPS and UTS machine control systems
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level
Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift
Must be able to climb ladders.
Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet
Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands
Must have the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height - and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
