Service Center Supervisor

Location: Morgantown, PA

How You Will Make an Impact?

The Service Center Supervisor will oversee shop on day-to-day basis and ensure a safe, profitable, and efficient work environment.

The Nuts and Bolts

  • Review Safety Assessment as well as the work order with the assigned techs prior to starting the job in the shop, making sure the tech understands what is needed to be safe and the quoted hours and repair.
  • Comply with and promote all company and OSHA safety regulations. Assist in providing safe working environment for all employees. Make recommendations to Service Manager on safety improvements to the shop. Conduct mini-weekly safety meetings time limit with the shop personnel, document the issues covered and create a sign-in log. Conduct OSHA training as directed from the H.R. department.
  • Schedule and Coordinate repairs using LeanKit, up-fitting & modifications of truck bodies and chassis.
  • Oversee shop to achieve established revenue, profitability, and quality control objectives.
  • Hold weekly meetings with Shop Team Leaders
  • Review all work orders and verify hours and materials quoted for each operation. Assist with service quotes as needed or requested.
  • Complete labor reporting using DayForce daily, including time off requests.
  • Have daily communication with the Service staff to ensure proper scheduling of units to meet the customer expectations.
  • Work with the service staff daily to schedule work and adjust as necessary.
  • Perform quality checks on all completed units with the tech and sign off on the work order that all work has been done in accordance with the work order.
  • Review all completed work orders for the proper material usage, once completed, turn completed paperwork into the materials department for processing.
  • Communicate and report all discrepancies on quoted work orders to the Service Manager as it relates to material and labor, this must be done as soon as it is noted.
  • Work with the Parts Dept. to ensure that the tech's have all of the material needed to perform work. Anticipate problems or challenges and identify opportunities to prevent.
  • Notify the Service Manager and Estimator as soon as possible if at any point in the repair a modification is needed to complete the work, please provide the recommended information so this can be re-quoted with the customer approval.
  • Monitor all shop employees progress, attendance, job safety, job quality and performance and report to the Service Manager with any recommendations on improving efficiencies.
  • Complete daily yard check to ensure that all of the units on the ground is accounted for and logged on the daily schedule with a comment on the status of unit using LeanKit
  • Maintain and verify daily the direct work force hours and report to the Service Manager.
  • Prepare documents for repetitive problem concerning the shop personnel and or issues.
  • Ensure that the facility follows our national account programs as it relates to service work and turn times. This standard applies to all customers unless directed otherwise.
  • Improve communication with internal and external customers by development and maintenance of systems reporting.
  • Provide help to other department personnel including regional facilities, concerning changes with work operations and/or information as it relates to Service.
  • Notify Service Manager of needed repairs to shop equipment, ensure that all equipment is kept up to date and in working order.
  • Be prepared to attend meeting as needed and discuss any related issues and or concerns that affect the shop, personnel and or any cost saving measures.
  • Provide customer base and other departments with job status and activities relating to the Service function as requested.
  • Communicate pertinent information concerning opportunities or problem situations to appropriate personnel with follow-up to Service Manager.
  • Willing and able to work overtime & Saturdays as need to meet customer demands.
  • Maintain task lists to ensure order and cleanliness of the Service Department and surrounding areas. Direct 5S programs to adhere to cleanliness standards.
  • Assist with the annual physical inventory for Parts and Service Department.
  • Assist to ensure the level of inventory on hand is at levels to meet the needs of our customer base including the regional facility.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Required Credentials
  • Supervisory experience managing and developing repair and fabrication technicians.
  • Experience with quoting truck and trailer repairs a plus.
  • Microsoft Office Software/JDE/Excel/LeanKit
  • Self-Starter and ability to work well in team setting.
  • Ability to direct projects from inception to completion
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Excellent Phone etiquette, customer service, and organizational skills
