Position Overview
The Sr. Sales Manager trains, leads and supervises direct reports in assigned location(s) and sells products and services to achieve company strategic objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Analyzes and controls expenditures to manage P&L responsibilities. May lead multiple location teams.
Directs sales forecasting activities and reviews/analyzes sales data to set performance goals and promote sales.
Executes strategies to meet or exceed sales goals, achieve KPIs, and appropriately handle customer issues.
Prepares sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
Maintains and utilizes up-to-date knowledge about the markets served, customers, vendors, and competitors to drive successful operations.
Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing and assigning sales territories, quotas, and goals and addressing routing optimization.
Manages development and retention of DSD accounts for assigned area through a sales team.
Meets primarily with key customers (large, complex and/or at risk), assists sales representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
Attends and networks at trade association meetings to promote product and company; may be required to coordinate or lead special event occurring on weekend and/or nights
Oversees location operations, including staffing, training, inventory management, finance, systems, and facilities to drive revenue growth and accomplish financial objectives.
Manages activities of the DSD team to ensure achievement of objectives in assigned area, including but not limited to, maintaining relationships that grow our business, achieving established performance scorecards, handling customer issues, developing sales within accounts, analyzing and controlling department expenditures, preparing sales reports, implementing process improvements, participating in trade shows
Collaborates with other departments within the organization to support overall company goals.
Responsible for building, developing, and retaining talent necessary to drive a high-performance sales team, along with ensuring succession planning is in place.
Conducts long-term and short-term goal setting for teams and individuals and uses data to measure and monitor sales processes, identify issues, and enhance performance.
Participates in daily activities of staff and may determine route coverage.
Ensures safe behaviors (driving, warehouse, etc.) are being practiced and strives to ensure that safety goals are achieved for all sales positions.
Conducts warehouse walk-throughs as necessary.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree in related field from four-year university preferred
3 years of management or supervisory experience in a sales environment
Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
Must be at least 21 years of age
Valid Driver's license; A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required for certain work locations.
Acceptable driving record
DOT medical certification
If route has customers that require COVID vaccination for entry, COVID vaccination is a requirement for employment.
Successful completion of pre-employment physical
Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and handheld point-of-sale computer systems preferred

Knowledge of the retail industry (e.g., retailers, competitors, trends, visual merchandising, equipment, general business environment) related to multiple channels of distribution.
Knowledge of and ability to gather, interpret and apply multiple consumer/industry insights and trends used in the development of channel strategies and programs.
Knowledge of syndicated sources (e.g., AC Nielsen, IRI, CCT+, Home Scan) used in the analysis of trending market, customer, consumer, and dollar/volume dynamics.
Ability to listen and empathize to effectively collaborate with a breadth of stakeholders.
Elevated EQ/Diplomacy to enable navigating broad system stakeholders
