Job Description:

Position Title: Collections Specialist

Location: Indianapolis, IN (Remote, must be local to the area)

Starting Pay for position: $19.50 per hour

Position Summary:

As a member of Finance, you'll play an integral role in shaping the future of the Shared Services organizations. You will be involved as we modify processes by launching multiple new initiatives to streamline how we do business. In this role you will work with business partners and customers to ensure receivables are represented accurately and collected timely.

What we want you to accomplish

• Make customer contacts regarding open invoices and facilitate payments on past due balances.
• Set up payment arrangements with customers.
• Review invoices and work with plants/billing and customers to ensure balances are correct.
• Reduce the overall past due (and bad debt) balances.
• Research payments and applications.
• Collect Returned Checks.
• Match and apply open transactions.

Core Activities:

• Contact customers daily (60-90 per day).
• Process credit card payments over the phone.
• Partner closely with the AR Processing team and sales representative to arrange and ensure accurate posting of transactions.
• Provide weekly and monthly updates on all accounts for management to review and analyze.

Success Indicators:

• Proven ability to research and assist customers and AR Processors in posting payments.
• Accurately explain all Direct Billed accounts and balances.
• Proven ability to improve the DSO and reduce customer balances.
• Demonstrated success managing a diverse workload and prioritizing based on current business and time constraints.
• Multiple examples of collaboration with internal and external partners.

Education / Certifications Required:

• Bachelors or Associates degree preferred.
• Previous experience in Business to Business Collections or Accounts Receivable a plus.
• Moderate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office a plus.
