About the Department



The Department of Microbiology faculty researches a vast array of bacteria and viruses. We are a community of faculty, postdoctoral scholars, students, and staff committed to research and education in the field of microbiology. Our faculty conduct interdisciplinary research that advances the study of microbes and microbial diseases. Basic research in Microbiology underwrites out effort for eradication of important pathogens, prevention of human diseases, development of gene therapies and the evolution of new strategies for personalized medicine. We are also committed to training the next generation of scientists. This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.



Job Summary



This job participates in scientific research projects. The employees are responsible for developing and executing projects, analyzing data, writing papers, and reports, presenting research, and training junior staff and students. They are also responsible for working with animals, tissue culture, and immune assays.



Responsibilities



  • Systems biology and Bioinformatics, analysis of scRNA seq datasets, setting up pipelines for analysis, compiling data for publications.


  • Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.


  • Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.


  • Creates first drafts for scientific writing and publications, including protocols and grants.


  • Trains and mentors laboratory personnel.


  • Performs other related work as needed.





Minimum Qualifications




Education:

Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.

Experience:



  • Experience working with Bioinformatics pipelines.


  • Prior experience working with systems biology studies.
