Job Description:

What you will do

Under general supervision, analyzes defective batteries in order to identify root causes of failures. Processes auditing in order to identify unfavorable trends in process and product quality for the plant. Involves process engineering and production supervision as necessary to identify and correct the cause and to eliminate/minimize future occurrences. Monitors and reports success of corrective actions and the statistical control process. 

How you will do it

•  Perform raw materials testing (primarily acid), in-process testing and special analysis investigations as directed.  




• Prepares and distributes in-plant quality summaries and reports as required by Quality Manager. 




• Inspect exterior of each battery for physical condition, customer and manufacturer identification, deciphers date codes and records information.




• Pressure check battery for leaks. Take hydrometer readings of electrolyte in each cell.




• Tear down warranty failures or selected reliability batteries. Inspect internal components and record the reason for failure, the condition of each component and the type of component.




• Calibrates voltmeters, timers ammeters, meters, gauges and testers on equipment, in lab and in the plant and maintains records. 




• Correlate and dispatch test reports and data via Quality Control. 




• Work on routings, under direction of Quality Engineers, maintaining current routings, issuing, filing, etc. (Does not make decisions on operations or sequences not previously specified.) 

What we look for

• Associate Degree preferred – Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Chemical Engineering.




• 3 Year minimum experience in OE manufacturing or 3 years of experience in battery manufacturing

Our Toledo, Ohio fully integrated plant manufactures batteries used in automotive and marine applications. This is our largest plant at Clarios. We opened our facility in 1981 and now employ more than 700 people and operate six days per week.
