Job Summary




  • Manages equipment rental operations, including running the annual Gear-Swap event.
  • Manages outfitting for academic trips and supervises 5-7 part-time student Adventure Specialists. This includes including hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, and evaluation of part time student employees.
  • Manages the Bouldering Wall.
  • Oversees all equipment inventory and maintenance.
  • Manages credit card and bursar transactions including bouldering facility memberships, day pass sales, rental transactions, and retail sales.
  • Conducts inventory tracking and management, purchasing, and daily financial reports.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • Experience with indoor rock climbing


Preferred



  • Experience supervising or managing staff

SKILLS



Required



  • Ability to maintain and coordinate office files and paperwork

  • Ability to promote and encourage collegiality

  • Ability to assist with maintenance and upkeep of physical space

  • Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate effectively with others

  • Knowledge of equipment and retail items in outdoor adventure programming

  • Ability to maintain organization with inventory processes

  • Ability to maintain employee morale and accomplishment of work tasks




Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. This position can be physically demanding when conducting programming, including moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. This includes supporting the bouldering wall and other recreation programming as needed. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.


There may be a need for the shop manager to handle equipment at locations outside of their Eigenmann Hall office, so for example, if there is an outdoor adventures kayaking trip at Lake Monroe, this person might be asked to go on the trip and bring all the life jackets and keep track of them. The vast majority of the job is going to be in Eigenmann hall.

$16.00-$18.00 per hour depending upon experience.



Work Hours



Approximately 20 hours per week.


This is a year-round position.
