College/Department Information


The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.



Job Summary


Supports the Dean by providing leadership for continuous service in Savannah Campus Student Affairs operations, innovation and staff empowerment, and leads efforts to demonstrate effective internal and external customer relations and building collaborative relationships between programs, faculty, support staff, students, and medical staff.


Supervision of staff within Savannah Campus Student Affairs.


Supports the Savannah Campus Dean to provide direction and oversight to Savannah Campus Student Affairs. Responsible for all activities that pertain to the functioning and administration of the Student Affairs office, including supervision of Student Affairs operations. Responsible for Student Affairs staff hiring, supervision, training and education. Policy and procedure development and coordination and compliance.



Responsibilities


The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Manages the daily administrative operations of the Savannah Campus Student Affairs office.


Oversees the administration, management, and long-term managerial planning of all standard administrative support activities (personnel management, facilities management, inventory, procurement, and office management).


Plays key role in departmental leadership through interactions with faculty and staff regarding departmental policy, procedures and philosophy. Exercises sound judgement, strong decision­making skills and initiative in the planning and monitoring of activities of the Savannah Student Affairs office and manages departmental activities to meet faculty/staff/student needs and objectives.


Provides management expertise and creates an infrastructure to support Savannah Student.


Affairs both as an academic training program and operating department within MCG, MCG Student Affairs, MCG Curriculum Oversight Committee, and Augusta University.


Actively participates in ongoing development and implementation of policies and procedures that support, impact, and govern Savannah Campus Student Affairs.


Perform personnel management functions, evaluation and review staffing patterns, interpret personnel policies and procedures for supervisors and staff; Initiate and/or review all personnel actions to include recruitment and selection of staff. Provides training, evaluation and overall direction to Savannah Student Affairs, including the management of activities and events. Assigning tasks, organizing, planning, and coordinating the assigned tasks in respective areas of responsibility to meet objectives and ensure the efficient, economic, and quality performance of the Student Affairs office.


Prepare and report the data of Student Affairs of the Savannah campus and respond to requests for information from the MCG Dean's office, MCG Operations, Vice Dean, AU Medical Associates administration, Registrar's office, MCG Foundation, Augusta University Foundation, Financial


Aid, Department Administrators and business managers, AAMC, LCME and others as needed.


Provide direction and oversight to Student Affairs staff to ensure compliance with standard operating policies, institutional policies and all other procedures as necessary.


Manage facilities: participate in planning renovations; serve as department liaison with contractors, hospital administration, provost and facilities staff; negotiate with various administrators for use of institutional space; coordinate use of space available to the department; complete space inventory annually.


Student Affairs:


Manage all coordinators for 4-year campus.


Provide administrative and operational leadership to Savannah Campus.


Create and maintain new student listservs for each class year.


Assist other AU departments on campus as needed such as MCG Alumni Association, MCG Foundation, MCG Student Affairs, MCG Curriculum Oversight Committee, and MCG Dean's office.


Assist with all other office events such as Match Day, Hooding Ceremony, M3 & M4 orientations.


Order all White Coat for Student Affairs faculty when needed.


Manage all coordinators for 4-year campus.


Assist Dean and Assoc Dean as needed:


Point of contact for the Student Affairs with other departments


Provide correspondence for pre-clerkship students


Secure appropriate dates for incoming student orientation and plan specific sessions/activities


Coordinate all student volunteers such as class leadership and class liaisons


Organize Open Forums for the Class Dean for the pre-clerkship class.


White Coat Ceremony


Schedule MSPE Letter Writer mtgs & organize for Assistant Dean for Pre-clerkship


Acts as a student liaison between the students and Assistant Dean for Pre-clerkship


Develop new opportunities for students to meet with Assistant Dean (created Drop-in sessions for new students}.


Schedule and implement Mid-Year orientation


Pre-clerkship second Year (2026):


Point of contact for the office of Student Affairs with other departments


Provide correspondence for pre-clerkship students


2nd year pre-clerkship orientation


2nd year Mid-orientation


Service Learning


Other duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications



Educational Requirements



Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 5 years related experience.

Shift/Salary/Benefits


Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)


Pay Grade: 19


Salary: Minimum $51,967.00/Annually - $70,155.00/Annually


Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
