Job Description:

Overview: We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. As a SQL DBA, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems. You will ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications by proactively monitoring database systems and addressing issues as they arise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:
  1. Database Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across various environments, including development, testing, and production.
  2. Database Design and Optimization: Design, implement, and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, and constraints to optimize performance and ensure data integrity.
  3. Performance Tuning and Monitoring: Monitor database performance and proactively tune databases for optimal performance. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and resource contention issues.
  4. Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. Perform regular backups, validate backups, and implement disaster recovery plans.
  5. Security Management: Implement and maintain database security policies, including user access controls, roles, and permissions. Monitor for security breaches and unauthorized access attempts.
  6. High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as clustering, replication, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
  7. Patch Management: Apply patches and upgrades to SQL Server instances in a timely manner to ensure security and stability.
  8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Generate reports on database performance, capacity, and availability.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborate with development teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to support database-related initiatives and projects.

Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  2. 7+ experience as a SQL Database Administrator or similar role.
  3. Strong understanding of relational database concepts and SQL Server architecture.
  4. Proficiency in SQL Server database administration, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  5. Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
  6. Knowledge of database security best practices and techniques.
  7. Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as clustering and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
  8. Familiarity with database backup and recovery strategies.
  9. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  10. Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar certification.
  2. Experience with cloud-based database platforms, such as Azure SQL Database or Amazon RDS.
  3. Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation tasks.
  4. Experience with other database platforms, such as MySQL or Oracle.
