Job Opportunities for Disabled American Veterans

SUMMER 2000!!!

ARE YOU EAGER TO PROMOTE INTER-CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING IN AN EXCITING INTERNATIONAL, CROSS-DISABILITY ENVIRONMENT?

Mobility International USA (MIUSA) is currently seeking participants with disabilities from diverse cultural backgrounds for upcoming 2000 international exchange programs in Eugene, Oregon and Costa Rica. MIUSA is looking for people who are excited about new experiences and committed to promoting inter-cultural understanding. ASL interpreters, materials in alternate formats and other reasonable accommodations will be provided.

Partial scholarships are available for all programs.

Q Global Options for Women with Disabilities in Leadership and Employment

Women with disabilities aged 18 – 25 from all over the US will join young women with disabilities from other world regions in an international, cross-disability exchange of issues, ideas and strategies, to explore opportunities for international careers and develop cross-cultural networks of support among women with disabilities around the world. The program will be held July 7-23, 2000 in Eugene, Oregon. Through seminars, site visits and team-building activities, delegates will learn about opportunities and resources for international employment and exchange; strengthen leadership skills and build cross-cultural relationships with women with disabilities from diverse countries. The Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities, is a major sponsor of the Global Options for Women with Disabilities in Leadership and Employment Exchange Program.

Q US/Costa Rica: Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Disability

Join a group of 12 US citizens 18 - 24 from diverse cultural backgrounds, leaders, and ASL interpreters to strengthen cultural ties, explore human rights, learn about disability issues and expand leadership skills in Costa Rica. The program will be held August 1-19, 2000. Participants will develop leadership and teamwork skills by contributing experiences to disability discussions; participating in cultural activities; visiting schools to learn about the education system for students with disabilities; working together on an extensive community service project and experiencing the culture by living with local host families. The US/Costa Rica: Cross-cultural Perspectives on Disability exchange is sponsored by the DeWitt Wallace/Youth Travel Enrichment Fund, established in Community Funds by the Co-founder of The Reader’s Digest Association.

For information on Mobility International USA’s exchanges please contact MIUSA at: exchange@miusa.org
