Comcast Interactive Media (CIM), a division of Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK), dedicated to developing and operating online and cross-platform entertainment and media businesses, including Comcast.net (www.comcast.net). CIM's products include Fandango.com, a top movie and entertainment destination, selling movie tickets at over 15,000 screens; Fancast.com, a national online entertainment site; Plaxo an online social networking based platform; and DailyCandy, the insider's guide to what's new and cool -- up-and-coming fashion designers, sample sales, restaurants, useful services and must-have items.
Comcast Interactive Media is looking for a home page editor to create and maintain editorial features. We need someone who can write snappy, interesting teaser headlines and blurbs, and package content, including photos, videos, trivia quizzes, and polls. Editor will monitor several media sources and partner content feeds for breaking news and schedule features to maximize page views and video views. This editor will cover morning news and must be able to react quickly and accurately to breaking events.
While there may be some opportunities for long-form writing from time to time, this is not a writing position. This editor will serve as a curator of sorts, taking the content we already have from feeds and from partners, and producing the most appealing packages possible.
-Creating online content features (news, entertainment, sports, finance, etc.)
-Monitoring and managing media sources and partner content feeds on a constant basis
-Responding to breaking news events by rapidly and accurately updating content
-Refreshing editorial, visual assets, related links and videos on a regular basis.
-Building, editing, and maintaining original content such as slideshows, blogs, and trivia quizzes.
-Interfacing with evening and weekend editorial staff to ensure that coverage of important stories continues around the clock.
-Working closely with producers and editors to create a competitive, forward-looking and differentiated content experience.
-Helping to shape the tone, style, and voice of our home page.
-Completing other projects as assigned.
Required Skills:
-Stellar communication skills, with attention to detail, spelling, grammar and clarity
-Two years online, magazine or newspaper editorial experience with entertainment experience.
-Can write creative and engaging copy that makes people want to click for more
-Experience with online content management systems and web traffic analytic tools
-Comfortable using Photoshop
-Can work autonomously; able to take a few, basic instructions and turn them into a compelling feature
-Should also be a creative thinker who is comfortable being involved in group discussions and brainstorming.
-Contributes to site's overall vision and strategic planning
-Bachelor's degree (Journalism, English or Communication majors preferred), or equivalent experience.
