Project
This position is responsible for the development and support of OSS Tools for the Eastern Division. The individual will collaborate with product teams, operations personnel, product managers, engineering groups and strategic partners to define and design based on requirements including architecture, support, performance, and scalability.
Tasks
• Develop and implement tools that will allow Operations support areas to be proactive in determining network related events and prevent there occurrence.
• Provide support for all tools used within Operations support areas within the division.
• Standardization of all tools used within Operations support areas.
• Ensure timely proactive identification of all performance/monitoring/alarming issues.
• Develop/Improve processes, procedures and workflows related to identifying performance issues / service affecting issues, element configuration, and interaction between LMCs, National NOCs, Headends, Tech Ops and other organizations.
• Prepare quarterly, monthly, and weekly reports and trend analysis associated with the collected OSS Tools historical data.
• Participate in the review of catastrophic failures and provide feedback to prevent future occurrences as it relates to detection, alarming, tool use and monitoring.
• Provide technical training to junior engineers and other ops groups on current and future technology.
• Interface with software development team to suggest improvements to software-based tools and to ensure that the LMC has the tools necessary to perform daily activities.

Required Skills:
Education and Certification Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Computer related field preferred.
• Willing to become a certified CCCE (Comcast Certified Communications Engineer) of OSS Tools and Performance Analysis Technologies after hired. Four years of experience with OSS Tools Development, analysis, and engineering in an ISP or large-scale network environment can be substituted.
Experience:
• At least two years experience in a TCP/IP network environment required
• Understanding of the Internet protocol suite (e.g. ARP, IP, TCP, DNS, and SNMP), CIDR and commonly used lower-layer technologies (e.g. Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, GigEthernet, TenGig, and cable modems) preferred
• Experience with IP routers and switches is required
• Experience with multiple database platforms inclusive of SQL required and Oracle preferred
• Experience with multiple program languages such as Java, C++, and Visual Basic preferred
• Experience in Unix, Linux software is required
• Experience in Windows OS is required
• Experience with Spectrum, Concord eHealth, Sniffer, and other SNMP tools is preferred.
• Proven analytical and problem solving ability required
• Excellent oral/written communication and inter-personal skills required
