Position Overview
The position is responsible for technical maintenance and operational support of the addressable controller and peripheral hardware for the Motorola analog networks, Motorola Digital and Interactive platforms on a 24/7 schedule to include rotating on call coverage. Responsible for maintaining all network support activities including performance and availability measurement, continuous improvement, problem resolution, trouble ticket review and process development and implementation for local systems.
Job Responsibilities
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
*Work with regional interdepartmental organizations to triage and resolve network, billing, PPV, encoding, security, and programming issues associated with our addressable and interactive platforms.
*Work with vendors and internal engineering departments to implement advanced or current technologies or operational enhancements.
*Technical support for the digital platforms to include: proprietary and open systems hardware, Scientific Atlanta, Motorola, Pioneer controllers, HECs, ISPs, Scrambler/Encoders, Modulators, Processors, Terminal Servers, RPDs, RADD, NC1500, and DAC hardware.
*Supports all Motorola IP infrastructure (RADDS, NC's, OM, DAC's, SDM's) including design assistance of the IP infrastructure across the Aloha network
*Twenty-four hour, seven day a week support for the CPE and associated hardware for over 1 million homes passed.
* Support and enhance new product launches, migration initiatives, and network architecture.
*Install new hardware, software, and firmware associated with analog and digital addressable controller systems, head-end, and network architectures to support changing operational, product migration, regional, and corporate initiatives.
*Maintain documentation and records for all activities and testing as required by Company policy
*Performs other duties as required.
*Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
Required Skills:
Requirements
Education:
*High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelors degree, Associates degree in computer science preferred.
*Strong working knowledge of CATV theory and design
Experience:
*5 years experience in engineering, technical or information technologies. Head End and/or Fiber experience strongly preferred.
*Thorough working knowledge of TCP/IP routing and systems.
*Thorough working knowledge of Windows Vista, XP, NT, 2000, and Unix.
*Available for on-call duty and rotating shifts
*Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and safe driving record.
*Ability to lift heavy equipment and use standard technical tools.
*Knowledge of National Electrical Code, Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), FCC and related state and local codes
*Problem solving skills; ability to confront and resolve issues
*Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office applications.
*Current knowledge and proficiency of the necessary equipment, systems, resources and compliance standards applicable to functional area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
*Climb ladders, towers and other structures as needed
*Lift and carry loads of up to 75 lbs.
*Operate motor vehicles and use bucket truck when necessary
*Manipulate connectors, fasteners and wire and use hand tools
*Frequent use of keyboard and standard office equipment
*May be exposed to excessive noise, extremes in temperature and other weather conditions, live circuitry, and hazardous materials such as sewage.
