3M Orthodontics Division is seeking an experienced Product Development Organic Chemist to lead new product development and commercialization teams.
The position of Product Development Organic Chemist located in St. Paul, Minnesota will be responsible for but not limited to the following specific duties:
- Drive new product innovation, concepts and development in the areas of orthodontic chemical products adhesive formulations, polymerization, nanotechnology, resins, composites, and fillers.
- Leverage the technical expertise from Corporate Research, 3M Oral Care divisions and external collaborators.
- Work closely with global teams to translate and drive new technologies into impactful new products
- Develop intellectual property to protect new findings and diligently review existing literature and the right to practice.
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Research and Development
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Polymer chemistry, or related field.
- Experience in the development of adhesives and oral care products based on fundamental understanding of polymer science, structure-property relationships, principles of adhesion, coatings, curing, and fracture mechanics.
- More than 3 years of experience in leading new product commercialization cross functional teams.
- An understanding and background in photopolymerization is a plus.
- Requires creative, self directed and results oriented individual with a proven track record of research and product development.
- Candidate must have passion towards inventing, developing and commercializing new products.
- Self motivated and a good team player.
- Demonstrated abilities to connect technologies and people from different locations and organization to work in cross functional teams.
