Associate Designer - Footwear

Location: New York, New York
Jones Apparel Group is currently looking for an Associate Designer. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work with the Designers to initiate concepts each season that are fashion driven for the target customer.
- Merchandise the line with the Designers
- Execute design packages with translation of all details so the factory can execute correct samples
- Communicate daily with overseas offices for all development and execution details.
- Travel to factories as needed to make all corrections and finalize the execution of samples.
- Finalize product with the production and sourcing teams to insure timely and consistent quality.
- Set up showrooms prior to market
The qualifications required for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Must be able to sketch technical footwear drawings
- Familiarity with the development process as it relates to working with overseas factories and vendors.
- Possess a strong fashion sense and the ability to interpret trends
- Effectively manage time and multi-task, pay strong attention to detail, and work within a team environment.
- Degree in Design strongly preferred
- 3 - 5 years experience in footwear design
- Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop
