Produce fresh, surprising and relevant beauty-related content that speaks to our young, fashion- and trend-interested readership nationally. Develop stories, service-related features and special editorial packages that fit into and enhance our editorial programming.
Establish DailyCandy as a reliable, editorially sophisticated resource for information and guidance in the realms of beauty, services and wellness.
Investigate, pitch and write health, wellness and beauty stories multiple times per week.
Work in collaboration with DailyCandy's web editorial team to create dynamic, engaging, useful online content; update existing online beauty content as necessary.
Create and maintain online listings of noteworthy beauty-related businesses, services and events
Appear as DailyCandy's beauty and wellness expert on TV and radio and in print when needed; work in collaboration with DailyCandy's Editor-at-Large and Director of Communications.
Develop a presence as an expert via social media (Twitter, Facebook, blog communities, et al).
Create and maintain contacts and relationships in the beauty industry nationally and internationally. Connect with other key voices (media, bloggers, pr contacts and so on) in the beauty realm through Facebook, Twitter and blogging, creating an active, vital community and reinforcing DailyCandy's unique take on beauty.
Contribute to and advise on beauty-specific marketing and advertising programs.
Work with the photo and art departments to create unique, visually distinctive beauty reporting around special packages such as bridal or fashion shows.
Collaborate with other DailyCandy editors and contribute to larger DailyCandy editorial projects as needed.
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8-10 years editorial writing and reporting, with a minimum 5 years focusing on beauty. S/he will be comfortable writing lively, smart copy on very short deadlines and working within a small team. Project management and long-term planning abilities are key. Extensive, established contacts and good relationships in the beauty industry are crucial; fashion and lifestyle contacts and relationships are a bonus. The candidate should be comfortable working in content management systems, creating slideshows and blog posts. Basic HTML skills are required. Twitter and Facebook experience is preferable.
