The History Department at Wake Forest University seeks a one year visiting assistant professor of modern European history (after 1800, including Britain) for appointment beginning July 2024. The job carries a 3-3 teaching load; the primary teaching responsibility of the post will be sections of HST 102, "Europe and the World in the Modern Era," which meet the college's general education requirements. The successful candidate will also teach an upper division course for majors in modern European history with a regional focus according to their area of expertise, including Britain, Western Europe, and European empires. Teaching undergraduates is central to Wake Forest's mission. Candidates should have teaching experience and Ph.D. in hand by August 2023; advanced ABD students will be considered as well.
