The Area Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her market segments. He/she is responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues.
Job Description
This position is responsible for small market group sales efforts at Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown, Royal Sonesta Allegro and Royal Sonesta River North with sales office located at the Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown. The position reports to the Area Director of Group Sales.
Prospect, solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business to ensure maximization of revenue to achieve and/or exceed budgeted revenue goals.
Develop and execute action plans against existing and new target accounts
Conduct professional, thorough site inspections of the properties
Develop hotel level presentations, submit proposals and negotiation sales contracts
Represent the hotels at local trade shows, community events, industry meetings, sales trips, and blitzes
Prepare and present status and period end reports, maintain well-organized documentation and coordination of client requirements with hotel operations staff as appropriate
Attend weekly sales, revenue, and department meetings
Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP's
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Specific Job Knowledge & Skills:
Bachelor's Degree preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required
One to three years of hotel sales experience preferred
Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high-level attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
Delphi FDC and Meeting Broker proficiency preferred
Physical Abilities:
Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 15 pounds without assistance
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity
Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
