Your Opportunity:

The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Arcola IL, is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team.

Here's How You'll Make an Impact:

Reporting to maintenance supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment in a manufacturing and distribution plant.

What You'll Do daily:

Technical and practical knowledge of mechanical equipment and principals including:

• Chain and belt drives
• Bearings and shafts
• Conveyor belts and conveyor systems
• Building maintenance, upkeep, and plumbing
• HVAC maintenance
• Steam systems
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Rigging and lifting
• Mechanical timing
• Soldering
• Forklifts and dock equipment
• Blueprint reading

Technical and practical knowledge of electrical equipment and principals including:

• AC and DC high and low voltage power circuits
• AC and DC control circuits
• Electrical test equipment and software
• PLC's, ladder logic programming and HMI interfaces
• Frequency drives, Servo and Stepper motor systems
• Conduit installation and wiring
• Electrical drawings and schematics
• Transformers
• PC's and Network systems
• Phone systems
• Switchgear systems
• Security systems
• N.E.C. and state and local codes.

Knowledge and basic use of shop equipment for both wood and metal fabrication including:

• Saws and cutting equipment.
• Welding, Mig, Tig, Oxy- Acetylene
• Fastening systems
• Machining, fabrication and measuring equipment.
• General carpentry and power tools

What You'll Bring to the Table:

• A high school degree is required and a degree or certification in Mechanical or Electrical fields is highly desired.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience with work order and labor logging, maintenance software systems, and preventative maintenance practices and procedures required.
• Previous work history with sewing and textile cutting equipment is highly desired.
• Able to read and write with good comprehension skills.
• Positive attitude and work ethic and an ability to prioritize and organize work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems in a timely manner.
• Must be able to be on call for facility security alarm system.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with notice.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to meet all OSHA requirements for forklift operator certification.
• Able to lift to but not exceeding 90 pounds.
• Able to work overtime as needed and perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Able to work from heights of 40 feet.
• Able to work in confined spaces.
