The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products and processes meet the highest quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality control measures, conduct inspections and audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality engineering, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional quality products. Here you will make an impact by:

• Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to establish quality objectives and metrics.


• Conduct inspections and audits to assess product quality, process efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.


• Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, root causes of defects, and areas for improvement.


• Develop and maintain quality documentation, including quality plans, procedures, and work instructions.


• Participate in the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.


• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.


• Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate their quality management systems and capabilities.


• Provide training and guidance to employees on quality control processes and procedures.


• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of a culture of quality excellence.


• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in quality engineering to drive innovation and best practices.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Three (3) years of quality engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Three (3+) years of experience in manufacturing


• Advanced experience in a quality function in manufacturing/production plant


• Strong knowledge of quality control principles, methodologies, and tools


• Experience with quality management systems, such as ISO 9001


• Proficient in statistical analysis tools and techniques, such as Six Sigma and statistical process control


• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills


• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously


• Continuous improvement mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality products

Plant/Facility: Various Locations within the US

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
