Responsibilities:
Assist patent attorneys and agents with the preparation and filing of patent applications, including drafting correspondence, reviewing documents, and organizing materials.
Maintain and organize patent files, ensuring all documents and correspondence are accurately labeled and filed appropriately.
Conduct research on patent-related matters, including prior art searches, patentability assessments, and patent portfolio analysis.
Coordinate with clients, patent examiners, and outside counsel regarding patent filings, deadlines, and procedural requirements.
Manage the docketing system to track deadlines, responses, and actions required for pending patent applications and issued patents.
Assist in the preparation of responses to office actions, including drafting amendments and gathering supporting documentation.
Assist with patent portfolio management, including monitoring patent annuities, maintenance fees, and renewal deadlines.
Prepare reports and summaries on patent-related matters for attorneys, clients, and stakeholders.
Provide general administrative support to the patent team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating travel arrangements.
Stay informed about changes in patent laws, rules, and procedures to ensure compliance and provide accurate information to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., legal studies, business administration) or equivalent work experience.
1+ year of Legal Assistant/Paralegal in the Patent/IP space
