**Overview:**
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in sheet metal, CNC machining, SolidWorks, and practical application of Lean Manufacturing. This position offers the opportunity to develop the future product line of a small company. Who ever gets this position will have a large impact on the future of this company.
**Responsibilities:**
Independently execute the responsibilities below. You will be expected to be a self starter and tackle complex problems with-out hand holding.
Create and maintain full production models and bill of materials for every standard product.
Reduce total part complexity by designing modular systems that can be implemented across product lines
Work with potential suppliers on new designs, new production quotes, and prototyping
Design, create prints, and communicate part and process requirements for custom designs in a timely manner
Create and implement production processes and standards to improve product consistency, product quality, and production time
Create prints and documentation to support production, sales, and customers regarding installation, technical information, and manufacturing
Develop testing methods and help create videos for product features and durability, including fire protection, ballistics, strength, structural stability, and total lifecycle use
Keep current with competitive designs, competitive patents, and create new designs, products, and patents, to drive further business
**Requirements:**
Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Solidworks
Direct experience in sheet metal and machined parts design
Familiarity with GD&T principles for mechanical design accuracy
Able to do simple structural analysis and have a practical understanding of stress, strain, and flex
Hands-on experience in prototype fabrication, willingness to get hands dirty.
Some remote work is possible. This position will require attendance at the factory to deal with hands-on problems. However, we are flexible as to when, and how often this occurs as long as those on the manufacturing floor and those in the office feel they are getting the correct level of support
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time possible
Pay: $75,000.00 - $94,000.00 per year
