National Airlines, based in Orlando, FL, operates passenger charter service as well as customized military and commercial air cargo carriages worldwide. National Airlines specializes in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements, utilizing 757-200, 747-400 and A-330 aircraft to accomplish its missions.

Job Title: Duty Manager SOC

Location: Orlando, FL

Department: Operations Control Center

Reports To: Manager of Operations

Summary: Coordinates between all departments, internal and external, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective performance for the airline's operation and customer service satisfaction.

Essential Functions:
  • Participates in the company's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with the responsibilities detailed in the Safety Management System Manual.
  • Maintains coordination between all departments, internal and external, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective performance for the airline operation and customer satisfaction, using the sequence of events as guidance.
  • Recording or ensuring all delays are accurately recorded in Aims.
  • When required, is the single point of contact for upper management for the operational status and outlook for all company operations with the most extreme focus on the next 24 hours of operation, with additional foresight for the next 72 hours.
  • In arriving at decisions relating to flight movements, originations, cancellations, or consolidations, the Duty Manager shall consider:
  • Safety of the Operation
  • Minimum of discomfort, delay and inconvenience for passengers, mail, or revenue cargo.
  • Downline impact on other flights, to include crew and equipment positioning.
  • Maintenance department requirements for aircraft routing or necessary inspections and check of the aircraft.
  • Minimum ferry mileage
  • Elimination of flight movements into extensive bad weather areas which might tie up aircraft or crews for a considerable time.
  • Coordinates with Ground Operations to ensure all necessary ground operations preparations are made.
  • Coordinates with Crew Scheduling on crew requirements, positions, and movements.
  • Coordinates with or advise the Director of SOC, Director of Operations and or Chief Pilot on all unusual circumstances.
  • Confirms (or in the absence of a Mission Planner, enter) the schedule in AIMS after assessing aircraft availability and ensuring all additions, corrections, changes, deletions, or cancellations are provided both verbally and electronically to crew scheduling, SOC Ground Operations and Mission Planning.
  • Prepares Briefing Slides for the 0900 Management Meeting.
  • Coordinates with the DOD/TACC on military missions, as necessary.
  • Leads the 1500 (Local MCO) briefing with the SOC Staff and Management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country in which the position is located.
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years Dispatch, Flight Following, or related experience
  • Must have a working knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Must have previous experience or demonstrated ability in performing the duties and responsibilities defined within the Dispatcher position duties and responsibilities.
  • Must satisfactorily complete the training and testing/checking requirements defined in National Airlines' Dispatcher training program contained in the FOTM.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Regular attendance and/or punctuality is required.
  • Must have a positive attitude.
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the National Airlines culture.
  • Must pass a background check which could include fingerprinting, a pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Physical Demands:
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Extended periods of time sitting at a workstation, using keyboard, mouse, multiple computer screens while communicating by telephone, email or in person
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and irregular hours required (Flexible schedules) to support the 24/07 Operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to interact, communicate and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external customers.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Able to work in a team environment.
