Technical Designer - Rachel Roy

Job Description:

Rachel Roy, a division of Jones Apparel Group, is currently looking for a strong sweater Technical Designer to work closely with design, production and sales to develop branded product.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Create specification packages from original sketches, samples, photos and concept tears.

  • Schedule, conduct and attend all fittings(on fit model), proposing alternative methods of construction or components

  • Issue fit comments and graded production specs

  • Facilitate on-going communication with factories

  • Ensure fittings and graded specs are completed within an allotted time frame

  • Monitor and track the status of all development and production styles thru development and production charts

  • Work closely with overseas factories on pricing

 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee shared assistant with knitwear designer.

  • Minimum 5+ years experience in Sweater Technical Design

  • Working knowledge of garment fit and construction, some pattern making and exposure to garment manufacturing

  • Excellent computer skills.  Preferred with Excel or software based program

  • A consistent track record in achieving results within a category

  • Demonstrated ability to develop an associate to broader responsibilities

  • Possesses exceptional cross-functional teamwork skills

  • Resolves issues in a timely manner

  • Accountable to follow though on a task from beginning to end

  • Design back ground preferred, bit not necessary

 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • College Degree or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years experience
