New Media/Business Development
PURPOSE: Reporting to the Executive Director New Media Operations at Comcast Entertainment Group, the candidate will mange international distribution efforts within the new media department. Content produced by this group includes new media segments and content for various outlets, including but not limited to: CIMG-owned web properties, broadband partners, wireless phone carriers, cable video-on-demand partners, download-to-own partners, authenticated streaming partners and others emerging platforms. Additionally this individual will manage and support product development, enhancements to existing product portfolio and other distribution initiatives for Comcast International Media Group.
Understanding digital media solutions (video, mobile, broadband) to assist in achieving specific international department goals and objectives
Direct and project manage on-boarding of new international distribution affiliates including working with internal teams (marketing, technology, legal, etc.) to execute distribution deals
Key contact for account management and technical/operations support
Technical troubleshooting and support (FTP's, Login's, missed deliveries, corrupt files)
Account support and management with technical and programming affiliate resources
International Program Planning duties including, EPG Creation and metadata Creation
Manage and help lead staff of New Media production to ensure timely and accurate programming and delivery of CIMG new media content to internal international sites and external partners
Oversee, edit and write compelling text and accurate metadata for all CEG new media content for all partners.
Be able to manage international effort of 4 languages with internal translators, French, English, Italian and German for 6 web editions
Develop weekly schedules for new media programming on CIMG properties and external partner sites
Along with Director of Programming and International Marketing Director, work with external partners to guarantee the best editorial placement and use of CIMG content to drive international department revenue, marketing initiatives and more
Along with Director of Programming, work with CIMG online editorial staffs, marketing solutions groups, new media production and other departments to execute video components of new CIMG shows, specialty micro-sites and more
Troubleshoot new media issues with technical teams when they arise
Oversee and coordinate launches of CIMG programming with new partners
Direct and project manage the discovery, definition, design, architecture, development, and deployment of new products, features and services in emerging platforms (video, mobile, broadband)
Provide clearly communicated status and milestones to executive stakeholders on a regular basis
Deliver products and projects on time
Provide product ideas and feedback for management consideration
Ensure formal product and project processes are followed, including PRDs, BRDs, project plans and adequate specs are completed and communicated
Additional duties and tasks assigned as needed
Remote coverage will be required. Some weekend and late-night/early morning hours needed due to international client requirements
Required Skills:
Candidate must have BA or BS and a minimum of 2-4 years of product and project management and development experience; MBA is a plus.
Must have excellent quantitative skills with the ability to articulate product development roadmaps, as well as manage projects and budgets
Candidates should have a solid understanding of mobile product development, web development, a strong proclivity for technology, digital video distribution and, new media
Be solution-oriented and have ability to innovate
Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines
Knowledge of content management systems, and willingness to learn about technological issues that arise in the New Media space
Ability to manage staff, external partners, and vendors
Must be proficient with MS Office software (Power Point, Excel, Word)
Must have excellent written and communication skills, and show attention to detail
Experience in video distribution and affiliate management a plus
Must possess strong writing and copy-editing skills
Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines
Must know how to communicate effectively and positively with production team members
Broad knowledge of entertainment
