Job Description:

Position Overview: The Associate Administrator, System Administrator installs, configures, and troubleshoots servers, their associated systems, and endpoint devices. The Associate System Administrator manages and resolves service desk requests. This position will report directly to the Director, Technical Infrastructure - Americas, Director, Technical Infrastructure - EMEA, or Supervisor, Technical Infrastructure, depending on location and will support the enterprise globally. Columbus McKinnon provides a team-oriented structure, encouraging opportunities across the infrastructure team.

Location: Ballantyne, NC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs basic server, SCCM, and Active Directory administration.
  • Performs troubleshooting and problem analysis to diagnose and resolve problems including but not limited to: servers, infrastructure equipment both LAN and WAN, Telecom and Data circuit ticket management, printers and personal computers.
  • Works with and assists Network Administrators in support and implementation of all technical communications and infrastructure needs.
  • Identifies, selects and implements devices such as printers, computers, servers, storage, and communications needed to support business applications.
  • Defines, establishes, documents and implements best practices and procedures for data backup, data sharing and audit compliance as defined in corporate policies and procedures.
  • Assists with PC administration in all levels of hardware and software support, utilizing the Columbus McKinnon Service Desk ticketing solutions, and by answering calls, email and in-person user assistance.
  • Develops and maintains user documentation for IS Policies, procedures and systems.
  • Manages and maintains the Columbus McKinnon mobile device environment.
  • Assists with telecom circuit's ticket management and processing.
  • Works with and trains remote personnel as necessary for server, client and network support.
  • In-person visits to facilities for network, server and client upgrades/support, regular user support, IT improvement projects, facility relocation(s) and other related activities.
  • Monitors network for miscellaneous problems and performance bottlenecks, documenting issues and developing and implementing recommended solutions.
  • Manages and maintain core engineering applications.
  • Participates in the after-hours emergency call contact rotation, which includes on call duties of several rotating holidays throughout the year.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
  • Possesses demonstrated work experience and proficiency in Networking, Security Technologies, Internet System Architectures, Microsoft Windows operating systems, both client and server.
  • Possesses knowledge of backup systems including Veeam.
  • Possesses operating knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Possesses working experience with system management technologies including Microsoft System Center, AD, GPOs, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Is familiar with storage technologies, SAN, NAS, iSCSI and storage vender solutions such as EMC and Synology.
  • Has the knowledge to create and run simple to moderate scripts in PowerShell.
  • Has knowledge of server and OS lifecycle management (migration planning, patch management - Microsoft Systems Center).
  • Must be able to write correspondence and training documentation. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's, vocational or Bachelor's degree in a technology related program
  • 2+ years of IT infrastructure experience.
  • 30%+ Travel within Columbus McKinnon's global footprint.
  • Regular onsite work in office and manufacturing facilities.
