Instructor of Communications Studies and Director of Debate at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri

Job Description:

The School of Arts & Humanities at Missouri Valley College invites applications for Instructor of Communication Studies and Director of Debate to begin in August 2024. This position is a full-time, renewable, non-tenure track position.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

Teach nine hours of Communication Studies courses, such as Argumentation and Debate and Public Speaking, each fall and spring semester. Engage in all aspects of Debate activities such as planning, budgeting, evaluating, recruiting, coaching, operating, and attending tournaments.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Communication Studies (or closely related discipline) required by August 1, 2024.

Two years prior experience in debate as a Coach.

Doctorate in Communication Studies (or closely related discipline) preferred (rank commensurate with qualifications).

Prior experience in collegiate debate as an Assistant or Director preferred.

Prior teaching experience in higher education preferred.

Possession of (or ability to obtain) a Class E and/or CDL Driver's License preferred.

Collegiality, professionalism, and a strong commitment to teaching excellence and the college mission are also necessary qualifications.
