The Role:

We are seeking Board Operators to be based on the company's offshore platforms. This position may, from time to time, also require incumbents to work at the Houston Office location. As the Board Operator, you will be a self-starter with a solution-oriented mentality to help guide our team towards being a learning organization through defect elimination and continuous improvement.

What you will do:

Pre-deployment (Houston & Corpus Christi, TX)
  • On-boarding, HR inductions, IT set up, HSSE & Operational/Maintenance overview.
  • Computer based training (CBT), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Operations Training Simulator (OTS).
  • Emergency Response and BOSIET training.
  • Assurance of the completeness of the Distributed Control System (DCS).
  • Oversee and input for the graphic design build for the VDU screens.
  • Interface with the vendors to assure specifications and design deliverables are met.
  • Witness and assure the install and functionality of Emergency Response & Communications Systems.
  • Witness the installation and functionality of the DCS, Fire & Gas and Depressurization Systems.
  • Ergonomics and layout development of the Central Control Room.
  • Punch listing and walkdown for Central Control Room and the associated equipment.
  • Drafting and review of procedures and documentation for commissioning and start-up.
  • Familiarization with LNG 1 facilities equipment and process plant.
  • General support as required across the commissioning & start up including administration tasks.
  • Input to the Project Completions Management and QA/QC Management Systems.

Post-deployment (Offshore - Altamira, Mexico)
  • Embracing and encouraging a safety culture that results in zero harm to people, the facility or the Company's reputation.
  • Diligently follow written and/or verbal instructions to operate, start up, or shutdown equipment on your assigned asset.
  • Troubleshoot and correct any deficiencies with the process equipment across the facility.
  • Document and report all safety or environmental concerns to supervision.
  • Participate in Operating Procedure & Manual development process by continuously improving and updating procedures.
  • Participate in commissioning and startup activities associated with assigned asset.
  • Operate all facility utilities including liquefaction process, gas treatment, electrical power generation, air, water, sanitation, nitrogen, and monitors the loading of LNG ships.
  • Learn and operate the facility withing safe operating envelopes as designed.
  • Record and evaluate operating performance data and inform Shift Supervisor of potential problems and failures in a timely manner; Works with Shift Supervisor to expeditiously resolve facility problems and improve facility reliability and safety.
  • Performs all duties applying safety protocols and adhering to regulatory mandates.
  • Embracing and encouraging a safety culture that results in Zero harm to people, the facility or the Company's reputation.

What you bring:
  • Available to work offshore on a 21/21 rotation schedule on FLNG facilities
  • Minimum 4 years experience as a process board operator in the oil and gas, refining, or chemicals manufacturing industry.
  • Strong preference for candidates with Honeywell and/or ABB Control System experience.
  • Strong preference for candidates with LNG experience.
  • Previous offshore experience a plus
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required for this role.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow complex operating procedures.
  • Highly driven, forward thinker and problem-solver; impeccable integrity and a strong personal work ethic.
  • Prior operations experience in oil & gas, refining, or chemical manufacturing is a plus.

Work Conditions:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write.
  • Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors & outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise. There is a considerable number of outdoor activities involved.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
  • Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid, CPR, AED & LNG firefighting.
