Your role at Clorox:

We're in search of a seasoned and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Global Environmental & Sustainability Lead within our Global Safety and Environmental team. In this position, you'll collaborate closely with site environmental coordinators and local leaders to bolster initiatives aimed at fulfilling environmental obligations, adhering to company policies and standards, and spearheading sustainability endeavors.

In this role, you will:

Waste Diversion Support - Driven by the company's initiative to achieve and sustain zero waste to landfill status in 100% of our global facilities by 2030, and our plants by 2025 (where infrastructure allows), assess current waste management practices across all Clorox owned facilities, identify, and address gaps in the processes. Responsible for developing and implementing data strategy to ensure complete and verifiable reporting. Identify new and innovative ways in driving out waste in processes (end to end) and recommend improvements to current waste data collection systems and tools. Develop a system where sites can share best practices and encourage networking. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement environmental initiatives that align with company goals.

Technical Support - Partner with North America Clorox locations to support environmental compliance programs with company policies and procedures, local, province, and country laws and regulations. Provide guidance to sites in addressing observations and/or findings identified by local authorities and serve as a liaison between the site and Clorox Leadership. Conduct environmental compliance audits remotely and/or on-site and provide guidance to address those areas where a site may be able to improve their existing programs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement environmental initiatives that align with company goals. Review and update environmental standards and procedures as per company policy. Review and update site's environmental compliance action plans (ETRACS) to ensure that they are concurrent to local, province, and country laws and regulations.

People Training and Development - Train personnel responsible for environmental compliance and waste diversion activities at their location. Provide coaching and direction for site environmental coordinators and leaders. Develop and deploy an environmental skill assessment to identify technical and soft skills opportunities and recommend tools and resources that these personnel can use to improve or strengthen these skills.

Strategic Leadership - Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industrial standards to improve and strengthen technical skills. Understand the unique environmental challenges at each site under your responsibility and any special considerations there may be due to those conditions. Request feedback to drive self-development, improve soft skills, discover unknown potentials. Develop scope of work, owns, and manages relationships and the negotiation of service level agreements with vendor and/or consultants when applicable.

What we look for:
  • 6+ years of experience in an environmental compliance or sustainability role in industrial and corporate settings; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, science/geology/engineering or related science/technical field. Graduate degree is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge in waste management programs with focus on waste diversion from landfill.
  • Must be able to provide direction, coach, and influence across all functions and levels within the organization.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills including group presentation and status reporting.
  • Experience in conducting audits and field inspections to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Able to interpret standards, laws, and regulations and analyzing them to identify specific activities, site-specific requirements and develop into standards, procedures or ETRACS.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, reviewing, and maintaining environmental related programs.
  • Experience in conducting root cause analysis surrounding environmental incidents and non-compliance issues.
  • Experience in supporting/managing communication with regulatory agencies.
  • Proactive thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management and project management skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable.
  • Continuous Improvement skill/experience.
  • Fully bilingual.

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

-Zone A: $86,600 - $161,900

-Zone B: $79,400 - $148,400

-Zone C: $72,100 - $134,900
