Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting the Director of FP&A with overseeing company's financial planning and analysis functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Budgeting and forecasting: FP&A oversees the company's budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring that budgets are accurate and aligned with the company's strategic objectives. This involves analyzing financial data, working with other departments to develop budgets, and preparing financial models and forecasts.
  • Financial analysis: FP&A conducts financial analysis to support decision-making by senior management. This involves analyzing financial data, preparing financial reports, and identifying trends and opportunities.
  • Management reporting: FP&A is responsible for preparing and presenting financial reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and trends. Developing management reporting packages, analyzing data, and communicating insights to senior management.
  • Business planning and strategy: FP&A plays a key role in the company's strategic planning process, providing financial insights and analysis to support business planning and strategy development.
  • Financial modeling: FP&A develops financial models to support decision-making, including sensitivity analysis, scenario planning, and capital expenditure analysis.
  • Performance measurement: FP&A develops and implements key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the company's financial performance and ensure that performance is aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Investment analysis: FP&A evaluates investment opportunities and provides financial analysis to support investment decision-making.
  • Financial systems and processes: FP&A is responsible for developing and maintaining financial systems and processes to ensure that financial data is accurate, complete, and timely. This may involve implementing financial planning software systems and tools, developing procedures, and managing relationships with external service providers.
  • Prepares monthly consolidated management report and variance analysis to monitor operating expenses, AFE expenditures and other expenditures.
  • Prepares the monthly analysis of property, plant, and equipment.
  • Updating the monthly consolidated financial forecast model
  • Prepares the annual consolidated budget as well as participating in the annual budget for the operating assets and joint ventures.
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual tax provision and effective tax rate (ETR) workbook.
  • Reviews of operating expenses, AFE expenditures and other financial results.
  • Cross training with other members of the accounting team.
  • Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures.
  • Completes special projects and analyses as required.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

EDUCATION & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • CPA or CPA eligible
  • 2-3 years of experience in public accounting
  • Upstream Oil & Gas experience, preferably from an international operations perspective.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarity with FP&A Planning tools.
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge.
  • Strong organizational skills and detailed orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in working as part of a team; but self-motivated and self-starter.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience with either P2 Ideas, Infor Sun Systems or SAP would be an advantage.
