Geosyntec is seeking an experienced water resources engineer to join our team in our San Diego, California office. The candidate will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the region focused on solving our client's water resources problems and helping them meet their regulatory needs and engineering. With practices that include watershed and stormwater management, surface water and water quality modeling and environmental data analysis, we are seeking an individual whose background and interests include environmental and water resources engineering coupled with a strong background in modeling. The candidate will be expected to lead in efforts to further Geosyntec's excellent reputation in the Water & Natural Resources market sector.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Hydrology and hydraulics [engineering calculations and modeling;
* Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of small and large watersheds;
* Stormwater permitting and regulatory compliance;
* Design of drainage systems, stormwater BMPs, low-impact development stormwater BMPs and related hydraulic structures;
* Water quality modeling and surface water quality monitoring;
* Erosion and sediment control design and field implementation;
* Spatial analysis and database management;
* Development of technical guidance;
* Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps;
* Project Management;
* Client management; and
* Marketing of professional water resources and other related services.
The selected candidate will have technical responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent task assignments. Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, the selected candidate would also be expected to play a role in supporting lead generation, business development, project management, staff development, and mentoring. The selected candidate will also be expected to collaborate with other Geosyntec practitioners throughout North America and will be expected to help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
Preferred candidates will hold an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) from an accredited college or university in environmental or civil engineering with an emphasis in water resources or a closely related discipline, plus minimum four years of water resources-related experience in a consulting, design, or regulatory environment. Practical and applied research experience is required related to watershed assessment, stormwater management, watershed and master planning, drainage design, NPDES permitting, BMP/LID project implementation and/or surface water quality retrofits to meet TMDL requirements, BMP/LID monitoring and performance and erosion & sedimentation controls. Additionally, strong technical writing, GIS, permitting, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling skills are expected. Demonstrated track record of successful project management is highly desirable. P.E. registration or the ability to obtain P.E. registration in California within two years of employment is mandatory. The ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel are also required, as is a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
