Under the supervision and direction of the Pharmacist, the Acute Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the accurate computer entry and processing of prescriptions, preparing unit does medications, and non-sterile bulk compounding. Job duties also include inventory control, care of supplies and equipment, accurate cash handling, customer service, both in person and over the telephone, and the resolution of customer service issues. The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in all aspects of the daily departmental activities, including training of new staff and pharmacy students, billing, record keeping and other clerical functions, monthly audits, and other duties as assigned by the pharmacist. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and good organizational skills are beneficial.

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements) Education and/or years experience required: * 18 years of age or older * High school graduate or equivalent * Basic clerical, computer, and mathematical skills * 1 year previous experience as a pharmacy technician, or two years experience in a medical office setting that includes medical terminology and computer skills, is preferred. * Must meet one of these education/experience categories as defined by the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy: 1. Successful completion of an American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists accredited academic program OR 2. An American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists accredited on-the-job training program AND Must have obtained certification by the national certification body approved by the Board of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is an approved certification body. Licensure/Certifications required: * Registered as a pharmacy technician with the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy on or before their first day in the Pharmacy. * Must maintain registration and certification for the duration of employment.
