The Nursing Assistant, Registered (NAR) is responsible for providing direct care to Skilled Nursing Facility residents and for serving the needs of residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, within the scope of the Nursing Assistant role. Provides personal hygiene care, assists with providing for nutritional needs; recognizes and deals with the problems of the aging process, recognizes and promptly report changes in resident condition to shift nurse, and maintains a safe, clean, attractive, and neat environment for the residents. The NAR must be aware of and prevent the abuse of vulnerable adults in the care of the Essentia Health Skilled Nursing Facility. Maintains awareness of safety issues and strives to accomplish all responsibilities in a safe manner. Identifies safety hazards and emergency situations, and initiates corrective actions. The NAR must abide by the mission and values, procedures, and policies of Essentia Health.

Education and/or years experience required: Perfer completion of a nursing assistant program. Must be able to work with peers, supervisors, and residents in a cooperative, considerate, and helpful manner. Must be able to effectively communicate with residents, families, and personnel. Must be able to handle physical and/or verbal abuse from residents in an appropriate, professional manner. Must have a strong desire to work with the elderly. Licensure/Certifications required: Current and in good standing on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant registry.
