Job Description:

American Family Children’s Hospital is a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center featuring nationally recognized pediatric specialists.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to be a part of the PACU team:


  • State of the art pediatric medical center affiliated with a world class research university.


  • Dedicated pediatric surgery suite consists of eight operating rooms, a 30-bed pre and postoperative unit and a 10-bed post-anesthesia care unit




  • A comprehensive, nationally recognized pediatric surgery team trained in the latest techniques, including minimally invasive surgery.




  • Verification as a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons.



Education:

Minimum -

Preferred – Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum – One (1) year of recent inpatient pediatric experience in an academic medical center OR one year of recent independent adult PACU/ICU/IMC/ED/General care experience and successful completion of the LEAP program.

Preferred – One (1) year of ICU/IMC nursing experience. One (1) year pediatric PACU/Pre/Post experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin. CPR certification. PALS & ACLS certification within six months of hire.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.




  • Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members.



Physical Requirements:

Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule:

If a Per Diem brings experience, flexibility, and a higher level of work hour commitment to the program, she/he will be rewarded with a higher salary and a bonus when participating in Option 2. Per Diems are required to schedule at least 48 hours per four (4) week schedule as follows:



  • Inpatient, Surgical Services, Radiology and Dialysis: Sixteen (16) hours of the 48 hours must be weekend shift hours and 16 hours must be off-shift hours. Off-shift hours scheduled during the weekend shift shall be considered towards both the weekend shift and the off-shift requirements.  Option 2 also requires the Per Diem to work at least one winter holiday and one summer holiday. Inpatient Per Diems must commit to work in an assigned cluster of units.




  • Home Health: One weekend (Saturday and Sunday sequence) in every four weeks must be worked based on operational needs.  Option 2 also requires the Per Diem to work at least one winter holiday and one summer holiday based on home health agency needs.




  • Clinics/Surgical Services (non 24/7 areas): The Per Diem may be required to work off shift, a weekend, or holiday.



On Call Responsibility: Call response time of 60 minutes (60 minutes from phone call and reporting to charge nurse)
