Jetstream of Houston, LLP (a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation), manufactures high pressure waterblast equipment and accessories for commercial and industrial cleaning and maintenance operations. In addition to equipment sales, we are increasingly engaged in the sale of parts and tooling, service and repair, equipment rentals, vehicle refurbishment and training as part of a complete offering to our customer base.

Jetstream of Houston, LLP (a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation), manufactures high pressure waterblast equipment and accessories for commercial and industrial cleaning and maintenance operations. We are currently looking for a Test Technician for our 2nd shift.

Job Purpose: Perform testing, monitoring, documenting tests on equipment. 

Duties:


  • Assists in design layout, fabrication, and assembly of prototype components;

  • Perform production testing of electric and diesel driven waterblast units. (heavy equipment)

  • Perform routine maintenance on Jetstream equipment;

  • Assist with outsourcing of manufacturing R&D machine parts (when internal capacities have been exceeded) including quoting, ordering, receiving, documenting transaction, and ensuring payment;

  • Prepare part sketches to document prototype parts and modifications;

  • Set up and operate simple measuring and testing devices, according to established specifications including pressure transducers and oscilloscope;

  • Perform testing of prototype systems & components;

  • Record data in a neat and orderly fashion per directions;

  • Build prototypes per print or verbal direction;

  • Performs other duties as required by manager;

  • Travel as required for position;

  • Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Skills/Qualifications:
• Associates Degree in Engineering or High School Diploma with 3 years of related experience;
• Mechanic or Test Lab experience preferred;
• Ability to read and understand detailed manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings;
• Knowledge of basic hand tools pertaining to mechanical assembly;
• Ability to follow verbal instructions pertaining to assembly, testing, and procedures;
• Ability to verify dimensions of parts and installation of components using measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, tape measure, etc;
• Ability to work on equipment that maybe 4 decks high.
• Ability to read and understand hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics;
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized environment
• Knowledge of machinery to modify parts tested or fabricate experimental parts including mill, lathe and drill press;
• Understanding of hydraulic fittings and proper installation including hose and fitting identification;
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;
• Ability to learn AutoCAD and Solid Edge software preferred;
• Ability to work without supervision;
• Good organizational skills.
