The Academic Coordinator serves to provide impeccable support for a variety of constituencies for our Graduate Programs in the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs (SPPUA) within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (designation of specific programs assigned internally). The Administrative Coordinator works directly with and reports to the Director of SPPUA, and works closely with and in support of the Manager of Academic Programs and the School's career-development focused Professor of the Practice, and interacts regularly with the Office of the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. The role also is an integral part of SPPUA's team of Graduate Program Directors (including, but not limited to graduate, certificate, Master's, and PhD programs, as delegated.) This role serves as the lead for student-focused event management, and assists with career development and alumni engagement initiatives. He or she handles inquiries to the programs; updates databases; assists in course scheduling; processes forms submitted to the graduate office, and monitors student progress. The Administrative Coordinator ensures smooth operations from the initial outreach and recruitment of students, through committee review of applications and enrollment, to monitoring progress and commencement. Responsibilities extend to both the Boston and regional campuses as well as to online students.


Five to seven years of higher education administrative experience and Bachelor’s degree required. Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently. Must have the willingness and ability to provide high quality service to various constituencies, including domestic and international students, faculty members, administration and staff. Must possess excellent computer skills and experience working with databases.
