Amerisure is currently recruiting for a Senior Purchasing Agent for our corporate office in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The ideal candidate will possess the following skill set.

Summary Statement

Facilitates full cycle of procurement and purchasing efforts, including the RFP process, contract negotiations, contract reviews and renewals, and issuance of purchase orders.  Partners with Corporate Legal, Financial Services, Internal Audit, and the Project Management Office to oversee the procurement process.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties


  • Lead the request for proposal, quote, and information (RFP, RFQ, RFI) process.

  • Draft and issue request for RFP, RFQ, and RFI for vendor selection process.

  • Facilitate pre-vendor assessment qualifications with internal customers and participate in the selection process.

  • Initiate new vendor relationships and serve as the liaison between internal customers and external vendors during initial negotiations. 

  • Monitor and analyze vendor performance and spend during lifecycle of relationship/agreement.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with designated commodity vendors, serve as the main point contact, and develop appropriate governances.

  • Develop and implement the strategy for the negotiation and administration of contracts and manage procurement initiatives for the enterprise.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to source and procure hardware, software, services and other office products required by the organization including sourcing strategies and supplier evaluation.

  • Collaborate and receive purchasing requisitions, handle requests for quotes, process purchase requisitions/purchase orders, maintain adequate records of purchases, follow up on orders/approvals and resolve issues with invoice/receipt discrepancies.

  • Acts as a liaison between vendors/suppliers and the business owner to resolve procurement related problems.

  • Authorize payment for issued purchase orders by reviewing invoices and related documentation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Materials Management, Business Administration or Management, related field, or equivalent work-related experience.

  • 5 or more years of direct procurement experience.

  • Experience with the creation, issuance and process of RFP, RFQ, and RFIs.

  • Experience with contract review.

  • Knowledge and experience of IT suppliers, commodities, and marketplace.

  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proven negotiations skills.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.

  • Excellent project management and budgeting skills with a deadline orientation and focus.

  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
