Job Description

- Develop design guides and tools and counsel external clients on brand identity and design standards across Hearst’s diverse portfolio of TMs. 

- Author strategic, thoughtful, and diverse creative to drive/support all existing and new business initiatives

- Provide high level creative and critical support in the development and implementation of design standards to ensure the brand, and editorial TM consistently align with Hearst’s creative goals/strategies including but not limited to, product, packaging, branding, and advertising

- Guide and support external partners in the overall look/style of a diverse set of creative deliverables across categories, channels, tiers

- Ideate, author, implement and manage layout, typefaces, colors and styles for branding, advertisements, product, packaging, presentations across TMs

- Review, revise, and appropriately support creative deliverables developed by internal and external resources and partners

- Coach/provide instruction to internal and external design teams to succeed and achieve creative goals

- Work with licensing agents, clients (external facing)

- Work with creative, marketing, sales (internal facing)

- Reports to Senior Creative Director

 

Job Requirements

- 8+ years of experience working in consumer products branding, design, and approvals for a team that represents an established brand or an original IP

- Degree in Graphic Design / Industrial Design / Product Design / Other Design Related Field

- Extensive knowledge in typography, layout, color, and visual communication

- Significant experience and technical knowledge of branding, print, digital, printing, packaging, product development, manufacturing processes, web development

- Passion for and deep understanding of design trends/retail or commercial design/product development and for consumer media magazine brands

- Understanding of complex workflows designed to scale across diverse, global operations teams

- Ability to understand and work across a diverse range of brands and aesthetics

- Fluency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and working knowledge of web-based graphic design 

- Relevant, proven design portfolio

- Detail oriented, strong organizational and presentation skills

- Good communicator, proactive, team player
