Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Brief description of what this person does, in simple direct terms

Under limited supervision, interacts with engineers to perform assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of evaluation boards and test fixtures
*

Carries out in-depth electrical, mechanical, and optical troubleshooting to the component level

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: List the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, in order of importance and/or amount of time spent.*

Support engineers and project managers in various technical activities related to design and technical product development
*

Assist engineers in the creation of new evaluation assemblies
*

Fabricate and improve test fixtures as needed
*

Regular attendance is an essential job function
*

Will spend part of his/her time as a member of continuous improvement teams undertaking projects and seeking ways to improve the quality of KSI s products and services.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES: List other important functions that are secondary duties but may be time consuming.

*

Maintain lab space, tools, and materials of a hardware R&D lab
*

May assist Regulatory department in coordinating equipment handling for on-site calibration
*

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: What does a person in this position need to be able to do*

*

Experience with assembly and test systems involving electronic circuits and/or mechanical components, prototypes, and complete product
*

Work from schematics and engineering drawings required to fabricate and evaluate electrical and/or mechanical components and subassemblies
*

Proficient in fabrication and excellent soldering of small assemblies requiring microscope visualization
*

Accuracy and attention to detail required
*

Familiar with basic measurement tools including Meters, Oscilloscopes, Micrometer, Caliper, etc.
*

Problem solving skills
*

Data acquisition skills
*

Mechanical drafting skills for documentation of fixtures is desired
*

Knowledge of medical device quality system regulations and standards (eg, U.S. FDA Quality System Regulation 21CFR Part 820, ISO13485, ISO9001)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: What is the usual educational background and work experience of an individual qualified to perform this job*

*

3 years of experience in a hardware R&D lab environment
*

Associate degree in Engineering Technology is desired

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: What are the specific physical and mental demands of this position*

*

Perform close up, precision work
*

Perform delicate and precise soldering
*

Ability to sit for extended periods (during assembly and test).
*

Ability to lift video and test equipment (approx. 20 lbs)
*

Work effectively under pressure and time constraints
*

Communicate clearly with supervisor and co-workers
