Job Summary

The QA Intern will learn many facets of the Quality Assurance functions in a manufacturing plant. This position will rotate through areas of Quality Assurance.

Primary Job Responsibilities


  • Break down shop packets, sort documents and properly dispose of those not retained

  • Review inspection records for completeness

  • Return records to inspectors and Shop personnel for completion or correction as necessary

  • Assist in file maintenance, including scanning of documents and data entry as directed

  • Support users in making documentation revisions including use of office integration templates

  • Review daily schedule and prioritizations and prepare documents for inspection

  • Assist with inspection sheet development for first articles

  • Update MPS system with inspection instructions

  • Review drawings and perform basic inspections

  • Assist with calibration system data entry, basic guage use and care, and preparation and distribution of reports

  • Assist with preparing reports, reviewing data, and completing follow-ups for nonconforming products

  • Participate in desk audits, audit preparation and question development, audit interviews and analysis, audit report development, audit system maintenance, and audit system reporting

  • Review parts set up for quality requirements, including updating BOM with inspection requirements

  • Prepare inspection and test plans and assist in customer inspection visits and tours

  • Abide by company policies

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • Demonstrated attention to detail

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Suite products, including Word

  • Currently enrolled in AA, AS, or BS program focusing on Quality Assurance, Mechanical Design Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Administrative Assistant or other relevant program.

  • Blueprint reading experience preferred

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, well ventilated, climate controlled general office environment.  Close computer work is regularly required.  The work usually involves minimal physical exertion.  The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate. 

This job may require daily interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor.  While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment.  Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor.  The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.
