Job Description:

Join the #1 hospital in Wisconsin as a Senior EMS Education Specialist to support health professional education and training needs throughout the region.

We are seeking a Senior EMS Education Specialist to:

  • Provide emergency and medical care training through the UW Health Emergency Education Center (EEC). Classes include Paramedic Training, EMS Training, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (CPR), and more.

  • Create and develop training objectives and curriculum for courses.

  • Monitor evaluations and provide feedback to students

  • Teach all levels of hospital staff, medical faculty and staff, University students and employees, fire department employees and members of the general public  



Minimum: Bachelor’s degree

Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field. Completion of a State-approved EMT-Paramedic education program


Work Experience:

Minimum - Four years of experience in delivery of emergency care or critical care. Two years relevant teaching experience.

Preferred - Three years relevant experience in pre-hospital 911 emergency care.


Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum - Wisconsin State licensure as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant or an EMT-Paramedic. Current AHA Instructor in BLS, ACLS, PALS, ACLS-EP or must obtain within six months from date of hire.

Preferred - Nationally Registered EMT Paramedic


Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  •   Considerable knowledge of and experience in emergency medical services/critical care theory, skills, and practices.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments.

  • Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of medical records.

  • Ability to work independently and self-motivate as well as motivate others.

  • Knowledge of the scope of practice in all levels of EMS.

  • Ability to use PC Software including, e-mail, word processing, database spreadsheet development and on-line learning programs.

  • Ability to educate all levels of clinical, non-clinical and EMS personnel.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.  Physical ability to perform resuscitation skills and participate in the delivery of patient care on a 911 ambulance, functioning as a crew member. 


Work Schedule: 

100% FTE, 40 hours. Shifts primarily Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with occasional weekend hours. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
