Research Information Specialist

Finance – Knowledge Management

Edward Jones is seeking a highly skilled individual to serve as a Research Information Specialist within Finance Division.  The duties include supporting the research needs of Firm associates by retrieving, analyzing, and presenting external business and industry specific data, managing and aligning information resources with information needs of Firm associates, and Firm historical archive work. The Research Information Specialist is responsible to the leader of Knowledge Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess information needs, negotiate and deliver customized research on ad hoc and recurring requests from Firm associates

  • Create search strategies and utilize content most appropriate to the request or project

  • Synthesize and explain relevant information findings

  • Assist in dissemination of curated competitor and industry information via newsletters, briefs, alerts, and intranet content to key stakeholders

  • Communicate with information vendors to ensure appropriate resources are available for research assignments

  • Manage information resources through acquisition, cataloging and circulation of print and electronic materials

  • Collaborate with business areas to ensure engagement

  • Look for innovative ways to evolve information services to meet the needs of Firm associates

  • Track usage metrics, pay invoices, and other administrative tasks as required

Position Requirements

  • Requires advanced degree in information management, library science, or equivalent work experience and education.

  • Five plus years' professional experience in corporate information center. Experience with archival collections a plus.

  • Excellent knowledge of business, financial, regulatory information resources and information center operations.

  • Must be able to formulate complex search strategies on a product-specific basis

  • General understanding of the principles of relational databases, taxonomy, metadata, indexing and searching behaviors.

  • Understanding of interlibrary loan networks, fee-based document retrieval services, and government information agencies and ability to leverage these resources on a query-specific basis

  • Must be able to organize work and manage workload to meet deadlines for research and completion of multiple simultaneous projects

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong planning, organizational, evaluative and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment.
