Job Description:

This position is responsible for executing and coordinating retained financial reporting processes for the Cargill Protein Group. This individual will help lead and coordinate those activities with team members engaged in these processes and sub processes. This includes efficient and effective delivery of timely submissions of reports, ensure continuous improvement of processes, and absorbing work into operations in order to deliver high quality services to the business. This position will assist in providing the financial reporting and month end close statements needed to support the business, and assist in ensuring accuracy and entirety of the business transactions. Other responsibilities include seeking improvements in the close process and closing gaps, as well as partnering with CBS to streamline the activities. This role will also actively gather and provide ad hoc financial requests from CFR, Tax, Decision Support, and other finance departments.


Principal Accountabilities


60% Financial Reporting

• Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of business and accounting principles and practices, executes and reviews standard financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.
• Execute monthly financial reporting and financial statements.
• Prepare and review supporting schedules and reports as needed.
• Efficient and effective delivery of services to the business.
• Absorb new work as needed throughout the transformation.
• Execute retained month-end close processes.
• Adherence to agreed upon financial reporting deadlines and company policies, as well as organize financial information.
• Monitor A/R, A/P, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Assist with the submittal of monthly accruals/adjustments and journal entries.
• Supports the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of financial data.
• Prepare annual filings as needed.

20% Business Partnership and Analysis

• With some oversight, review and create standard accounting report packages. This may be on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or yearly basis.
• Collaborate with team members in reviewing results and providing technical accounting data and information to finance partners.
• Perform miscellaneous general ledger reconciliations and entries.
• Supports the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of financial data.
• Respond to ad hoc requests from FP&A, enterprise, and business.
• Build capability and business knowledge with shared service partners.

20% Continuous improvement

• Supports the development and creation of new Protein Group financial reporting.
• Supports the implementation of shared services optimization within the financial reporting team.
• Participates in efforts to identify and apply process simplification, standardization and improvement, specifically in month end processes.
• Provides input to more senior members of the team for improvements to accounting process consistency.


Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Finance or Accounting
• 3+ years’ experience in Accounting and/or Finance
• Proven accounting/finance leader; with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization 
• Demonstrated change agility
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to partner and engage with centers of expertise (Tax, CFR, Audit, HR, IT) 
• Demonstrated ability to understand and use technology to improve process and control

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA, MBA/Master's, or other advanced certificate or advanced accounting/finance degree
• Experience in JDE and/or SAP
• Demonstrated ability for continuous improvement
• Experience leading significant change
• Experience with multiple businesses and/or international business experience.
