<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Position Overview<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">This position involves daily operation and driving of a tractor-trailer combination or a single, double or tri-axel vehicle.  Driver will be responsible to load and unload the truck.  Requires commercial drivers' license. Under direction of the Driver Manager by performing the following duties. <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Depending on materials hauled, may require unloading of contents by hand or shovel<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Drive trucks including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, equipment or other materials.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Examines equipment and discusses with Equipment & Delivery Manager and/or Administrative Shop Coordinator nature and extent of damage or malfunction<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Moves equipment in preparation for work readiness and job time lines<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Be able to interact with vendors, plant employees, and different levels of management<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirement i.e. CDL, Class A and/or B, and if any endorsements<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Have a MVR that meets company standards<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Be goal orientated and a self starter<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Be able to work independently, safely, have strong organization skills, and have a strong work ethic<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Strict adherence to Dolomite/A.L. Blades policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">High school diploma or GED preferred<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">A valid State CDL-B or CDL-A license<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Minimum of three (3) years previous related experience in construction field preferred<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">OSHA 10 Certification preferred<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Understanding of Smith Driving System a plus<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">
